Breast Health and Breast Cancer Treatment Center

Questions about the new mammogram guidelines Read Dr. Carl D'Orsi's, Emory Director of Breast Imaging, thoughts on the subject.

At Emory, our breast health programs provide the best breast cancer treatment available. Successful breast cancer treatment is greatly enhanced by diagnosis and treatment in the earliest stages. Eight out of ten breast lumps are not cancerous, and a breast health regimen, that includes a mammogram, can successfully detect breast cancer up to two years before it can be felt with self-examination.

At the Emory Breast Center, we understand that a breast cancer diagnosis brings tremendous stress, anxiety and confusion to both the individual diagnosed and family members. We believe that providing the best breast cancer treatment possible must include helping patients as well as their families with the multitude of decisions that must be made at this very difficult time.

Breast Cancer Treatment for the Individual

The Emory Breast Center offers a comprehensive approach to breast health and breast cancer treatment. The comprehensive team of breast health specialists - including radiologists, medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, advanced practitioners, pharmacists, pathologists, geneticists, nurses and researchers - is committed to serving the needs of our patients, and we believe that every case is different. Meeting once a week, your breast cancer treatment team discusses patient cases and collectively develops an individualized treatment plan designed to produce the best possible outcomes.
