Prevent the Spread. Control Infection.

Prevent the Spread

Our first priority at Emory Healthcare (EHC) is to care for the health and safety of our patients and their families. One of the ways our providers illustrate this commitment is through completion of the Annual Provider Patient Safety Module.

All providers at EHC must complete the 2014 module by midnight, Monday, December 1, 2014.

Here are the three things you need to do by midnight, Monday, December 1, 2014:

1. Get the influenza vaccination.

Get vaccinated for free at an EHC flu vaccination event or Employee Health. For a schedule of flu vaccination events, log on to the Virtual Desktop, visit the home page of the intranet ( and click the influenza button, or contact Employee Health (click here for contact information).

The vaccine is mandatory for all providers, except those with documented medical contraindications or a religious exemption form signed by their religious leader or hospital chaplain.

Although all providers can get vaccinated through Employee Health, EHC- and EU-employed providers must complete the online consent form (pre-registration) prior to getting vaccinated by Employee Health. Non-EHC-employed providers or those providers being vaccinated outside of Employee Health do not need to complete online pre-registration. To pre-register, log on to e-Vantage, then click Self Service and Influenza Vaccination Registration to complete the form. (e-Vantage is accessible via the right-hand navigation on the intranet, Log on with your network ID and password.)

2. Get the TB test (tests performed within the past 12 months are permitted), unless previously PPD positive or have history of treated TB.

You can obtain a TB test at Employee Health (click here for locations) at no cost. Private practice providers can go to any of the Employee Health offices to have the TB test placed and read. Appointments are recommended, but not required.

3. Complete all requirements of the online Provider Patient Safety Module curriculum and test.

Access the module via the call-out image at the bottom of this page. Remember to preserve your username and pin so you have one module account. For your username, use your Emory login. If you have completed the module in past years but do not remember your username or pin, you can use the built-in self-service to recover them. You can also contact 404-778-4357 (internal: 8-HELP) to have your pin reset. If you do not have an Emory login and need to complete the module, be sure to use something for your username that you will remember when accessing the module in the future. Then, do the following:

  • Take the course and test. This also includes the compliance module and reviewing, adding or updating your immunizations. The course and test should take an estimated 25 minutes to complete, and you must obtain a score of 100 percent to pass. Note: Response time for the test may be faster if accessed outside of the EHC Virtual Desktop.
  • Document your seasonal influenza vaccination within the module. If you are submitting documentation of vaccination outside of EHC or a medical or religious exemption form, note the below additional step:

- You must record your seasonal influenza vaccination date and location within the module. If the flu vaccine is received outside of EHC employee health, you MUST submit the documentation to Cindy Hall in Employee Health via email,, or fax, 404-686-1527.

- Submit a completed medical or religious exemption form (form available on the Annual Provider Patient Safety Module) to Cindy Hall in Employee Health (see information above). The religious exemption form must be signed by your religious leader or hospital chaplain. Remember: You must apply for exemption each year.

  • Self report your TB test (performed within past 12 months) within the module.
