The Emory Infectious Diseases Clinic at Crawford Long Hospital is a well-established provider with extensive experience in caring for patients diagnosed with infectious diseases including hepatitis, HIV, Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs), transplant or travel related infections. Our Clinic, established in 1989, is part of the Emory Clinic, a premier multi-specialty group in the Southeast U.S. comprised of faculty members from Emory University School of Medicine.
Part of our organization's mission is to reduce the impact of hepatitis, HIV, and STDs within the metro Atlanta area and to improve and expand our ability to provide services to clinic patients. We provide care for the HIV infected patient from preventive and proactive care in the early stages of infection to terminal care as needed. Education, antiretroviral therapy, immunizations and medications to prevent opportunistic infections are central to our treatment strategy.
Our physicians are all board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, devoting much of their practices to primary care of the HIV patient. They have published in the medical literature concerning various HIV-related topics, such as treatment options, drug therapies, clinical trials and prevention of opportunistic infections.
The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Because of our hospital and university affiliation, laboratory and radiology support is easily accessible and of high quality. Referrals to dermatology, ophthalmology, dental providers, nutritional resources, mental health specialists and home health/hospice are facilitated through outstanding liaisons both within and outside of the Emory system. The clinic's clinical research center caters to clients interested in and eligible for investigational treatment. The clinic also collaborates with several other organizations in Atlanta that conduct HIV/AIDS-related clinical trials. We provide internet access to various educational websites through computers available to patients in our waiting room. Our patient education room is open throughout the day and is stocked with many written handouts and videotapes. New items are added frequently, so we invite you to come by often. |
