Treatment Information
The prostate is a walnut-shaped gland located under the bladder and is only found in men. Prostate cancer is caused by cancer cells growing in the prostate and these cells may grow either slowly or quickly, sometimes spreading to other parts of the body.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer affecting men and is the second leading cause of cancer death in men. The American Cancer Society estimates that one man in six will be diagnosed with the disease in his lifetime. There will be 232,090 newly diagnosed cases of prostate cancer this year, and about 30,350 deaths from the disease.
