Case Study - Can Twitter Help Save Lives?

Twitter Case Study

On April 25, 2011 Emory Healthcare was part of the first dialogue of its kind over Twitter. Matthew Browning, a Registered Nurse & CEO who has spent his career in the health care field was in desperate need of assistance when his wife's grandmother's aorta ruptured while in a rural Georgia hospital. While phone calls were being made by the hospital staff to find an emergency transfer for his grandmother, Matthew took to the social networks, including Twitter, looking for help. He found us, and within 24 minutes of initial contact on Twitter, his wife's gradmother was being airlifted to Emory University Hospital. Read more on in this amazing health care social media case study.

Resources for Runners - Nutrition, MD Chats & More!

Runners' resourcesThe Peachtree Road Race is only 6 weeks away! In preparation for it, our teams of health care professionals from various programs across Emory Healthcare have been working to prepare some helpful resources for runners. We started with our live chat for runners with Dr. Mason of Emory Sports Medicine. The chat was so successful, that he will be hosting a part II in a couple weeks.

Cheryl Williams, a registered dietitian and part of the Emory Heart & Vascular team also prepared a post on nutritional workout snacks, that covers both pre- and post-run snacking tips.

So, what's coming next with our running resources? Dr. Lawrence Sperling of Emory Heart & Vascular is holding a live chat on Running & Your Heart, which will take place on Wednesday, June 29 at 12:30EST.
