Emory welcomes the Emory Family Medicine Residency Program to EUHM

The Emory Family Medicine Residency Program's home and sponsoring hospital is now EUHM. This past July, the program relocated to EUHM, having previously called EUHM its home from 1994-2003.

The three-year, Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved residency program currently has 20 residents and has reestablished its family medicine inpatient service and its obstetrics delivery program at EUHM. In addition, the family medicine residents will be on multiple educational rotations at EUHM, as they were in the past.

The program has received a warm welcome from community physicians and Emory physicians since returning to EUHM. "The number of physicians embracing the Family Medicine Residency Program's return to EUHM is amazing," said to Susan Schayes, MD, division chief, Family Medicine. "The Emory Family Medicine Residency Program Medical home model of care will really complement the needs of EUHM. Our residents have had an outstanding educational experience at EUHM in the past, and this transition is welcomed by everyone."

Eddie Needham, MD, program director, Emory Family Medicine Residency Program, will coordinate the return of the Emory Family Medicine Residency Program educational activities and rotations and looks forward to working with the community physicians and Emory physicians on the programs's educational needs.
