On the Horizon: New Hospital Tower
Improving patient access during construction
Starting April 27, 2012, The Emory Clinic will begin a project to expand and improve patient access to buildings A, B, and C in anticipation of construction of the planned Emory University Hospital Tower. This project will conclude in the fall of 2012 in time for the start of the new bed tower construction.
As a result, the patient drop-off behind Clinic A and The Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University is being expanded and improved. This presents an opportunity to enhance traffic flow for both people and cars and make arrival at the clinic safer and more welcoming for all. The project will add lanes to make valet parking easier and faster and improve self-parking by creating an elevated, “conditioned” (heated and cooled) bridge from the main Hospital/Clinic parking deck to the clinic buildings A & B, as well as leading to the hospital. Pedestrians will no longer have to compete with cars who are trying to enter the valet area in front of Building A.

All patients who have appointments in buildings A & B should park in the main Hospital/Clinic Parking Deck (see map below). All pedestrian traffic will be rerouted during the construction in the patient drop–off area. Patients should allow a little extra time to get to their appointment and follow the directional signs to get to the correct location. If you have a hard time walking, we encourage you to take advantage of valet parking options.
If you are visiting Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University please consider using the valet parking option off Uppergate Drive (see map below) to avoid the construction in the Valet parking area around Emory Clinic Building A. If valet parking is not necessary, you can also park in the main Hospital/Clinic parking area off Lowergate Drive and follow the pedestrian signs to get to Winship Cancer Institute.
New Hospital Tower
The new hospital tower, slated for completion in 2016, will be located directly in front of Clinic B, which means that the current patient drop-off at Clinic B will be closed once site preparation for the bed tower begins. More information on this important project to come!
