Your First Visit

You may make an appointment at the Emory Orthopaedics & Spine Center directly (if your insurance plan does not require a referral) or through a referral from your primary care physician. Call 404-778-7777 to make or confirm an appointment.

Preparing for Your First Visit

When you come to the Emory Orthopaedics & Spine Center for your first appointment with our hand and upper extremity specialist, please bring with you:

  • Your completed new patient information form
  • Insurance card
  • Co-payment if required by insurance (cash, all major credit cards, and personal checks accepted)
  • Your referral paperwork if required by your insurance and Emory does not already have it on file
  • Medical records from your other health care providers, if you have them
  • Films or a CD of CT scans or MRI and actual X-ray films (not just paper reports) or test results. Please ask your referring physician to help you obtain actual images. It is up to you to hand carry those images to the appointment.

This information will help us expedite your appointment and ensure we have everything we need to provide the best possible advice during your initial spine consultation. Your initial visit to the Emory Orthopaedics & Spine Center will include an evaluation based on your current symptoms or conditions and a thorough medical history.

The Emory Orthopaedics & Spine Center is conveniently located off I-85 at 59 Executive Park South, Atlanta, Georgia 30329. Parking at the Emory Orthopaedics & Spine Center is free. Find directions and other office locations here.

You'll find the physician directory in the lobby, as well as a concierge desk, should you need further guidance.

Insurance & Payment

The Emory Orthopedics & Spine Center accepts most insurance plans. Be sure to bring your insurance card with you to your appointments.

Payment for services is due at the time services are rendered. However, as a courtesy, we will submit a claim for you to any third party insurance carrier with whom Emory Healthcare has a contract. Please call in advance of your appointment to determine whether your insurance carrier is contracted with us. You will be responsible for any charges not covered by your carrier. If you prefer to file yourself, we will provide the paperwork necessary for reimbursement and ask for payment by you at the time of the appointment.

We accept any of the following payment methods:

  • Cash
  • Personal Check
  • All Major Credit Cards
  • Managed Care: If you are covered by managed care, we request co-pays and deductibles at the time of the appointment.
  • HMO Plans: Almost all HMO insurance plans require a referral from your Primary Care Physician.
  • PPO Plans: If your insurance is a PPO plan, a referral is usually not necessary; however, please check to ensure that Emory is included in your plan.
