Research Overview
Emory is leading the way in transplant immunology research investigating groundbreaking strategies to stop the rejection of the transplanted organs. This invaluable research is directed to help patients minimize the toxic side effects of daily immunosuppressant medications and achieve permanent, long-term acceptance of donor organs.
The McKelvey Lung Transplantation Center brings new hope in the fields of lung transplantation and advanced pulmonary disease through the efforts of our eminent scientists and with the support of such sources as the National Institutes of Health. Current research endeavors focus on laboratory advances in immune tolerance and end-stage pulmonary vascular disease and experimental methods for effective gene therapy.
