Hurricane Helene

Latest Update as of September 26, 2024, 3:50 p.m.

The safety of our team members, patients and families is of critical importance. As we continue to monitor weather conditions related to Hurricane Helene, recent models predict heavy rainfall, high winds and localized flash flooding. These conditions increase the likelihood for widespread power outages and downed trees.

Please see below for details.

Operations tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 27

Hospitals and Business Offices

Emory hospitals, business offices, and contact centers will operate as usual to ensure seamless patient care. You can also connect with your physicians and care providers through your MyChart account.

Outpatient Practice Locations

All Emory Clinic, Emory Specialty Associate clinics, and Ambulatory Surgery Centers will be closed tomorrow, Sept. 27. The areas that will proceed with limited and clinically time-sensitive services as an exception are:

  • Oncology Infusion (for selected patients who will be confirmed through the oncology infusion team).
  • Radiation Oncology (for selected patients who will be confirmed by the oncology team).
  • In-vitro fertilization (patients will be confirmed by that team).
  • Dialysis Centers (patients will be confirmed by that team).
  • Patient Access will begin to notify all other patients of the closure via text messages and usual phone methods. Patients will be rescheduled for make-up appointments as soon as possible.

For Our Employees: Reporting to Work

  • All staff scheduled to work tonight, Sept. 26, and tomorrow, Sept. 27, should come in as planned (with the exception of the ambulatory locations outlined above). Please plan extra time to arrive safely and use caution, as the winds are expected to pick up this evening.
  • Team members scheduled to work are welcome to arrive early or stay late for shifts. Sleep accommodations can be made, and you should check with your leader for more information.
  • Weather conditions may impede the ability for some to get to work, please consider staying on-site until your replacement arrives.
