Diagnosing Pituitary Disorders

Anyone suffering from a constellation of complaints/clinical findings suspicious for pituitary disease should consult with their primary care physician. Pituitary disorders are usually diagnosed with hormone tests and a brain MRI and include:

  • Non-Functional Adenomas
  • Hypopituitarism
  • Functional Tumor

Various combinations of the following symptoms may suggest a pituitary tumor:

  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Depression
  • Galactorrhea (spontaneous lactation)
  • Infertility
  • Drastic changes in physical appearance
  • Obesity (specifically abdominal)
  • Severe vision problems
  • Easy bruising
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Irregular or absent periods
  • Early menopause
