Advanced Practice Providers

To meet the increasing needs of our Advanced Practice Providers, we created The Office of Advanced Practice Providers in 2018.

Our mission: 

• Establish a leadership structure that ensures the professional development and growth of our more than 1,000 APPs. 
• Encourage intrapreneurial spirit by broadening skills and expertise, expanding responsibilities, and growing professional networks. 
• Create the best possible environment, emphasizing our values and nurturing the harmonious ingenuity of our diverse personalities and teams. 
• Showcase the initiatives, contributions, and value that our nurse practitioners and physician assistants provide in sustaining the legacy of Emory Healthcare.

In only two years, we've made remarkable strides in The Office of Advanced Practice Providers:  

• All APPs in more than 37 specialties have an APP champion that understands the unique complexities of their clinical practice. 
• Implemented a standardized transition to practice plan across all specialties to support and help new team members thrive.
• Developed an APP credentialing team and gained representation in the organization's senior leadership team to make impactful changes. 
• Evolved a strategic plan aligned with the organization's goals focused on strengthening regulations to best support APPs. 
• Established a dedicated APP champion for education and professional development resources. 
• Implemented APP and new provider (MD/APP) orientation and peer mentorship program for learning, sharing experiences, encouraging relationships, and stimulating positive energy. 
• Implemented five post-graduate residency/fellowships within cardiology, CT surgery, urology, Emory Critical Care Center, and Winship Cancer Institute.
