Theodore M. Johnson II, MD - Professor & Chair
Dr. Johnson graduated from Northwestern Medical School (1990), Chicago, IL, with residency and fellowship training (1997) at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill, NC. He has been an Emory faculty member since 1997 and currently serves as the Director of the Division of General Medicine and Geriatrics and Chair of the Family and Preventive Medicine. He is board certified in internal medicine and geriatric medicine.
Christopher M. Masi, MD, Ph.D., FACP – Medical Director
Dr. Masi is board certified in internal medicine and is Professor in the Department of Medicine, where he serves as Medical Director of Primary Care. He received his MD from the University of Illinois and his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. He joined Emory University in 2017. His clinical research focuses on chronic disease management and the social determinants of health. This work has been supported by federal, state, and foundation research grants. Dr. Masi’s current focus is optimizing health system performance by achieving the quadruple aim of improving the health of populations, enhancing the patient experience, controlling health care costs, and increasing joy in medicine among providers and staff.
Tina-Ann Thompson, MD - Program Lead
Dr. Thompson received her Bachelor of Science from Yale University in 1996, her medical degree at Boston University in 2001, and graduated from the Emory Family Medicine residency in 2004. In 2006 she purchased Rockbridge Family Medicine, which soon expanded into two locations. In 2015, she became Medical Director-Clinical Services for the DeKalb Medical Physicians Group, and in 2016, the Chief Medical Officer for Primary Care. Dr. Thompson now serves as Program Lead, Emory Primary Care where she shares oversight of all primary care practices in The Emory Clinic and Emory Specialty Associates. She is board certified in family medicine.
Frederick E. Turton, MD, MBA, MACP - Medical Director
Dr. Turton is a Medical Director of Primary Care and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Emory University School of Medicine. Before coming to Emory he practiced in Sarasota, Florida for 27 years where he gained experience forming a large medical group, hospital management and leading an independent practice association. He also has extensive experience in professional medical associations having served in the American College of Physicians (ACP) as Governor for Florida and is currently Chair Emeritus of the ACP Board of Regents. He is board certified in internal medicine.
