Partnering with Cristo Rey

Emory Healthcare provides internships, residencies and hands-on training to help ensure enough health care professionals for the next generation. But Emory Healthcare believes it’s also crucial that we create opportunities for those from disadvantaged communities to work in health care. Emory Healthcare’s 10 year partnership with Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School gives young people hands-on experience working in health care.
"Our goal is to place students in a hospital department where they’ve expressed an interest in health care."
a Student Shares her experience in the Program
"My experience at Emory Healthcare was incredibly life-changing, especially for growing my dream to work with premature infants. It gave me a fantastic opportunity to learn about the healthcare field up close and gave me significant insight into the level of compassion and commitment needed in the healthcare field. I was able to witness nurses and doctors helping premature babies get better. My passion was strengthened throughout my time at Emory. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have worked with such a committed group of people, and it strengthened my desire to become a NICU nurse!”
Similar to the NFL draft or a medical school’s Match Day, students at Cristo Rey’s Draft Day gather in the school’s auditorium to enjoy the festivities before waiting for their name to be called to go up to the stage where they are greeted by their corporate sponsor.
