Expert heart care for patients
in South Metro Atlanta

Welcome to Emory in South Metro Atlanta

If you or a loved one needs cardiac care, Emory Healthcare has four convenient locations in Clayton, Henry, and Fayette Counties to serve you.

Our board-certified cardiologists, formerly of Southern Heart Specialists, are highly skilled and experienced clinicians who specialize in the prevention, early detection, and treatment of all forms of heart disease. The heart and vascular health of residents of the South Metro area has been their priority for many years.

Established in 1975, Southern Heart Specialists were the first in the area
to provide cardiovascular care on an outpatient basis. In 2011, they joined Emory Healthcare so they could expand the cardiovascular services and resources available to their patients.

Your First Visit

We know that your time is valuable, so we’d like to make your first visit as efficient and productive as possible. Please review the information below and contact us at 404-251-2850 with any questions.

What to Bring

  • Photo ID
  • Insurance Card
  • Physician Referral (if required)
  • Medical Records from previous providers
  • Recent Lab Results
  • ALL Medications and Supplements IN THEIR ORIGINAL CONTAINERS. We will need the exact name of each medication or supplement, exact dosage of each medication or supplement and any prescriptive instructions written on the containers.

What to Expect

Upon arrival, please check in with an associate at the Front Desk. You will be asked to present your insurance card and photo ID at this time.

Once you are called from the waiting area, a staff member will show you to an exam room, where your weight and vital signs can be obtained. At this time, an Emory associate will briefly go over your New Patient Health History Form and discuss the reason for your visit. In most instances, an EKG (electrocardiogram) will be performed in order for your physician to establish a baseline. Your physician will meet with you for a full review of your medical history, discuss any medical records and/or lab results that have been collected, and perform a physical examination. Further testing may be recommended as part of the visit, or for another day, if necessary. At this point, you will have the opportunity to discuss any questions or concerns with your physician.

For patients who present for testing only, one of our Technologists will accompany you to the testing laboratory area from the waiting room.
