Teeth may develop cavities, gum disease, infections or other conditions that cause pain and swelling. This may require that one or more teeth be removed. Wisdom teeth may also need to be removed due to pain, swelling or because they are causing crowding of other teeth. Some teeth may also remain buried under the gum and fail to grow into the mouth. This may require removal of the tooth or creating space for the tooth to erupt into the mouth. Your doctor will examine your teeth and gums to determine which teeth need to be removed.
