Fertility Services

Family Building

For far too long, fertility treatments weren’t something people talked about. But fortunately, comfort with discussing fertility and family building is growing. As many as one in eight individuals struggle with infertility, and an estimated 33% of Americans have received fertility treatments.

At Emory Reproductive Center, our team is excited to partner with you to help create or grow your family. Science and our research have come a long way. And today, the families we serve benefit from improved procedures, methods and medications.

Fertility Treatments

We know the path to parenthood can look a little different for everyone. Our reproductive endocrinologists are well-versed in many different fertility treatments. We work with couples and individuals from all backgrounds.

At the Emory Reproductive Center, all are welcome.

Learn About Fertility Treatments We Offer:

Ovulation Induction

Anovulation is the absence of ovulation. Anovulation is frequently corrected with fertility drugs and called ovulation induction.

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)

For some couples, IUI may be the first step in fertility treatments. During IUI, sperm is injected directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation. This may help increase the chances of pregnancy.

Your reproductive endocrinologist will watch you closely throughout your cycle to carefully monitor egg production and, if necessary, stimulate follicle growth (follicles mature into eggs ready for fertilization).

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

The in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedure involves five basic steps, but at the Emory Reproductive Center, each patient's individual medical history and condition is evaluated for customized treatment and therapy.

Step 1: Ovarian Stimulation with Fertility Medication

Step 2: Oocyte (Egg) Retrieval

Step 3: Sperm Collection and Preparation

Step 4: Insemination of Eggs and Development of Embryos in the Laboratory

Step 5: Embryo Selection and Transfer

Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)

Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) may help patients have a successful pregnancy and a child free from selected genetic disorders.

Donor Egg

Donors egg treatment allows individuals and couples to overcome infertility that results from “egg problems” such as poor egg quality (often resulting from increasing maternal age), very low egg count, and lack of an egg source. Donor eggs may also make sense for a couple aiming to avoid passing on a medical condition that is present in the egg source.

Donor Sperm

In some cases, donor sperm may need to be used to result in a positive pregnancy. This may be the case for:

  • Couples with male-factor infertility
  • LGBTQIA+ couples and families
  • Men with certain genetic conditions
  • Single women

The Emory Reproductive Center works closely with couples and individuals interested and ready to use donor sperm. We’ll walk you through the entire process and answer whatever questions you have. Donor sperm can be used with IUI or IVF.

Donor Embryo

Embryo donation is another option for family building. Couples who have completed their family and have extra remaining embryos may choose to donate their embryos to the individuals or couples.

We also work routinely work with couples and individuals who use a gestational carrier to make their family-building dreams a reality.
