PGY-2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency

Program Purpose

PGY2 residency programs build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency training to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives for advanced practice areas. Residents who successfully complete PGY2 residency programs are prepared for advanced patient care or other specialized positions, and board certification in the advanced practice area, if available
The post-graduate year two (PGY-2) Ambulatory Care Residency at Emory University Hospital Midtown (EUHM) is a 12-month program that builds upon the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY-1 pharmacy residency. The program accelerates your growth beyond generalist practice and contributes to your development as a clinical pharmacist with specialized training. You’ll have opportunities to function independently by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings.

General Info

The PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency at Emory University Hospital Midtown (EUHM) is a 12-month program that allows residents to accelerate their growth beyond generalist practice and contributes to the development of clinical pharmacists with specialized training.  Our program at EUHM offers residents a unique exposure to ambulatory care by providing a core foundation in primary care and multi-disciplinary specialty clinics. The resident will also integrate into the specialty pharmacy team and develop skills in navigating and managing the specialty medication approval process, patient education and specialty pharmacy operations. Residents within our program are provided with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings.

Goals

The goal of this PGY2 Ambulatory Care residency is to train the pharmacist to function as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team who can provide comprehensive medication management to a diverse patient population in a variety of ambulatory care settings. Through distinctive learning experiences, the resident will additionally have opportunities for both personal and professional development.
