• An Associate's degree with a GPA of 2.5 or higher OR a Bachelor's degree with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• ACCUPLACER Next-Generation minimum Reading score of 237 and minimum Quantitative Reasoning/Algebra score of 258
• Prior to enrollment the applicant must obtain the following core college courses from an accredited college/university with a minimum of 15 credit hours and an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher:
  • Math 1101 or Higher
  • Communications 1101 or Higher
  • English 1101 Or Higher
  • Arts/Humanities OR Natural Sciences 1101 or Higher
  • Intro To Computers/Microcomputers

(Please Note: Pre-requisite courses cannot be remedial level.)

The program lasts 24 months.

No. The faculty knows of no programs offering evening or part-time classes.

Tuition is $5,400 per year. There is a (non-refundable) $350 student activity fee. Books are approximately $900, and uniforms are approximately $300 a year.

At this time we do not participate in Federal Financial Aid. However, we do accept, VA Benefits and we also offer affordable payment plan options.

Classes begin on the first Tuesday in September each year (the day after Labor Day).

Our Application deadline is March 31st.

The maximum number is 19 per year.

No. We start the interview process in April and continue to interview all applicants whose folders are complete until we have selected 19 students, plus five alternates. At that point, the interested applicants must wait until the following year to be interviewed.

The program is offered 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Most hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; however, there are evening clinical rotations about two or three days per month from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Every five weeks there is (one) eight-hour clinical rotation on the weekend shift.

Yes, the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) jrcert.org accredits us.

Upon graduation from the hospital-based program you will receive a certificate from the Emory Decatur Hospital School of Radiologic Technology that will entitle you to take the national registry administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).

Upon graduation from a college-based program, you will receive either an associate's or bachelor's degree that will also entitle you to take the national registry given by the ARRT.

At present time, the pay scale is the same for both types of programs.

Academic Standard (grading system) 

The student must maintain a minimum 80 percent GPA in all subjects. By keeping our standards high, we will hopefully increase the student's chance of passing the national registry, and graduate well-qualified radiographers.

It is urged for all students to strive for high 80s or 90s. If the student's GPA falls below 80 percent, the student will be counseled and provided with additional academic resources.

The grading scale is as follows: 

94 - 100 percent = A
87  -  93 percent = B 
80  -  86 percent = C 
79 percent or less = Failing 
IP = Course is still in progress

Our pass rate is currently 92 percent over a five-year period.

The rates will vary according to where you choose to work. Generally, hospitals pay more than a doctor's office. The hourly rate is approximately $23 to $26 per hour or $47,840 to $54,080 per year at Emory Decatur Hospital.

No. We do not offer job placement; however, 100 percent of our graduates (seeking employment) have found employment upon graduation in the past. There is a shortage in the healthcare field, including radiology.

The applicant must obtain a minimum of 15 credit hours from Georgia State University at Perimeter College in the prerequisite core college courses prior to making application.

The student must complete a minimum of 25 out of the required 31 credit hours of general education courses at Georgia State University at Perimeter College in order to qualify for an Associate’s degree from Georgia State University at Perimeter College.

The program uses an umbrella system. We use the following criteria:

• Advisory Committee interview score.
• ACT, SAT, Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with minimum GPA requirement.

The program is 40 hours per week, and there is an ample amount of studying and homework. The faculty recommends that students not exceed 20 hours per week of work. Please do not try to work full time and attend our program. It is all but impossible.
