The Emory Healthcare Advantage
As an academic health system, we are proud that our doctors and investigators are innovators. They pioneer new ways to diagnose, treat and prevent heart disease.
Emory Healthcare is part of an academic medical center that includes Emory University School of Medicine. This means you have access to up-to-the-minute treatments. Also, you may have the opportunity to participate in a research study or clinical trial.
Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring Services
Emory Healthcare provides heart screenings for people at risk for heart disease.
To determine your risk for heart disease, talk to your doctor. You will discuss your health history and lifestyle. Your doctor may use a risk estimator tool to determine if you need a CT Calcium Score.
The CT Calcium Score is a CT scan of your heart. It measures the buildup of plaque in the heart's vessels. Plaque comes from fat, cholesterol, calcium and other substances found in the blood.
If these plaques rupture or block blood flow, you can have a heart attack. Knowing your CT Calcium Score will help you and your doctor choose the best treatment for you.
